It been a common thinking within few people, Laser HairRemoval treatment is a new one and it might have few substantial effects. The truth is Laser Hair Removal process started about fifty years ago.The process of developing laser technique started in 1920 but it was not truely built until 1960. Even though, the commercial use of laser hair removal started in 1980. The 5 steps through which the
laser treatment technology reached this modern era :

Argon Laser |
The Argon Laser was the first laser which used to removehairs. The operational wavelengths of Argon Laser was 454.6 nm, 488.0 nm, 514.5 nm long.(also frequency doubled to provide 244 nm, 257 nm). Though, successful use of it was visible but not instead of side effect.Because, these wavelengthsare responsible for severely damaged skin before it could destruct hair follicle. These lasers are now used for Retinal phototherapy (for diabetes), lithography, confocal microscopy, spectroscopy pumping other lasers but not for hair removal. |
Q Switch Laser |
Q Switch Laser:
In 1960, the first laser was invented which involved in producing continuous beam of light. Dr. Leon Goldman was the inventor of it. The Laser was nomenclatured as Q Switch and it could be turned on and off. It was significant due to its controlling capacity of pulses. In other way, it proved itself efficient, as it allowed the laser beamer to destroy hair follicle without damaging skin.
Commercial Use:
After the proven functionality of Q Switch Laser, the technology began to improve and commercial use first started in 1980. Even it was used to remove birthmarks. Researchers notified that, the treated area did contain no hair and the hair removed area did not produce any further hair.

Soft Light Laser |

Soft Light Laser |
In the year 1995, The Food and Drug Administration (FDA)came up with soft light laser for hair removing. This laser used a carbon- based lotion as chromophore. It heated the carbon particles and released a shock wave to remaining follicle and destroyed it. But, it did involve a high amount of risk of damaging nearby cells.

Ruby Laser |
Ruby Laser:
The FDA innovated several modification to soft light laser and released Ruby Laser in 1997. This laser had shorter wavelength than the previous one. It was easy to use and the side effects were greatly reduced. It did not produce enough heat to damage the skin. Currently, the ruby laser is mainly used for removal of hair follicles permanently. .jpg) |
